The PV panels are installed in two locations on the roof; East and
West. The Eastern installation has 9 arrays (of 4 panels each) and the
Western installation has 4 arrays.
Because our house has a Terra-Cotta tile roof, a special mounting arrangement
had to be used. They removed the tiles and installed pipe mounts to the
decking above the roof joists. Then they flashed them and cut out the
tiles so that the pipe would stick out and flashed that.
 |
| In this picture you can see the first two phases.
The pipe mount at the top of the picture is screwed to through the
decking to the roof joists (2x6, on 16" centers). I don't
have a picture of the lower flashing. At the bottom of the picture
is the top layer of flashing (lead).

 |
| The pipe is pumped full of sealant and then the top of
the flashing gets a little rubber collar glued on it.
|
 |
| This is a long shot of the work in progress. The
tall PVC pipe is the conduit through which all of the wires will go down
into the attic.

 |
| This is the finished roofing work on the Eastern
section.

This is the finished roofing work with the mounting
racks installed on the Western section.
|
 |
| This detail shows the conduit coming out of the attic
and running along one of the mounting racks with outlets for the wires
to the arrays.
